FUSS was a band that was active from 2001-2002 and centred on the later Poets of the Fall members Marko Saaresto (vocals) and Olli Tukiainen (guitar). Drummer Tuuka Nikola returned from Saaresto's former band Playground. FUSS did not have any commercial releases.

Saaresto first met teenage Tukiainen as a fan in 1992. The two later crossed paths again in 2001 and alongside other members founded FUSS.(Bandit Radio interview, 2007[citation needed])

Marko said that one of the reasons he and Olli got out of it was because they wanted to do music seriously while the band was just interested in hanging out and jamming.[citation needed]

On 25th April 2003, Saaresto and Tukiainen founded "Poets of the Fall" and were soon joined by Markus Kaarlonen, a sound engineer from Remedy Entertainment who the two had been working alongside during the development of Max Payne.

Interviews

"We'd been jamming together in a group all year long, and we'd seen during that time that our styles meshed together nicely, so we started co-writing our songs." - regarding Marko and Olli's early musical collaboration in 2002.[1]
