My Dark Disquiet is the second track on Poets of the Fall's 2018 eighth full album Ultraviolet.
The Remedy Entertainment game Control launched on 27th August 2019, featuring My Dark Disquiet in an easter egg room. The room appears to be a test chamber where subjects must listen to the music and give responses to a questionnaire. The track's lyrics are written on a blackboard and an Ultraviolet LP sleeve is lying on the desk.
On the same day, the track was released as a single alongside a lyric video made by Captain. The single features a remix version by Tim Skold.
A full music video was released on 30th September, directed by Miika Hakala, which featured the Hotline from Control.

- The time between Ultraviolet's first single False Kings and last single My Dark Disquiet was an astonishing twenty months.
- "Royally cavalier" can be translated as "thoroughly reckless", but together these two words also reference the Cavaliers - those who supported Charles I of England and the monarchy against the parliamentarians in the English Civil War.
