Ultraviolet is the eighth album by the Finnish alternative rock band Poets of the Fall and the second album of the Clearview Trilogy. It was released on 5th October 2018[1]
On 11 March 2018, the band announced that their eighth album will be released in October 2018.[2] On 5 October 2018, Poets released Ultraviolet, which once again hit the #1 position on the Finnish album chart. Two singles, False Kings and Dancing on Broken Glass, were released prior to the album. In 2019, a single from the album, My Dark Disquiet, was featured in the video game Control alongside the experimental dynamic track Take Control (as Old Gods of Asgard).[citation needed]

We consider the new album, Ultraviolet, as a continuum of Clearview, theme wise. That also makes it the second phase of the third trilogy.

Ultraviolet speaks of the hidden world, the subconscious that affects us, even rules, in our everyday lives, and how to break free of it to live more joyously. It’s also a brand new opportunity for us to write in various new ways and explore our current musical interests, identity and vibes.[3]
Trivia
- The highlighted pin on the album artwork is a call-back to the MV for Lift, in which "Mark" is shown a pin as evidence. (ultraviolet light is used in forensic evidence gathering)
- The back cover of the album features the wispy ink shapes of a Rorschach image, again calling back to the Lift MV.
- The album's copyright statement includes the line "To find what you're looking for in the world, look within. Notice what works, instead of what doesn't. Watch the ripples start with you."
