A trilogy begins as a forethought, which in the end, becomes the sum of it’s parts. - Marko Saaresto[1]

The Signs of Life Trilogy (also known as the something of something or X of Y trilogy) is a musical trilogy consisting three Poets of the Fall albums: Signs of Life, Carnival of Rust and Temple of Thought.[2]

Similarities between the three albums

  • All three titles consist of three words, the middle word is of in each case.
  • The symbolism of the Lollipop in the first two albums and polarised red and white Markos on the third may all relate to Taijitu (see Lollipop page).

Additional information

  • The trilogy is concluded with the track homonymous of the first instalment of the trilogy "Signs of Life", included as a bonus track in the third and final instalment of the trilogy "Temple of Thought (Bonus Edition)". The track ends with the opening guitar riff of Lift, implying a cyclical tracklisting similar to the structure of Pink Floyd's The Wall.
