Clearview Trilogy

The Clearview Trilogy consists of the albums Clearview, Ultraviolet and Ghostlight

A trilogy begins as a forethought, which in the end, becomes the sum of it’s parts. - Marko Saaresto[1]

The Clearview Trilogy (also known as the Xy trilogy) is a musical trilogy consisting of three Poets of the Fall albums: Clearview, Ultraviolet and Ghostlight.

Similarities between the three albums

  • All three titles consist of a single compound word made from two words that can be used separately.
  • All three albums consist of ten tracks, with dualities so far having been found in both Clearview and Ghostlight's track listings - Clearview split into two halves and Ghostlight having thematic mirroring between the first and last track etc. Ultraviolet may also contain such a pattern.
  • The artwork for these albums depicts a single centred object on a relatively plain single-colour background, with bold sans-serif titles and the band's similarly bold sans-serif third logo.

Ghostlight description on Backstage Rock Shop

Poets of the Fall new album Ghostlight is a breathtaking completion to the band's third trilogy, (Clearview, Ultraviolet, Ghostlight). Ghostlight embodies the idea of metamorphosis, winning over hardship, of acceptance and becoming whole.[2]
